STEPS TO GETTING YOUR PERMIT
STEP 1- TLSAE COURSE
The 4-Hour Florida First Time Driver course is a state required course for all new drivers in the state of Florida. If you want to get your driver license you must take the 4-Hour First Time Driver course before getting your restricted or permit license. This course is state approved by Department Highway Safety Motor Vehicles (DHSMV) in Tallahassee, Florida.
STUDY FOR KNOWLEDGE SKILLS TEST
To have a better chance of passing the first time, study materials can be found by downloading the Florida Driver's Handbook and Study Guide.

STEP-2 KNOWLEDGE SKILLS EXAM
15-17 years old: Exam is available online.
Exam now available by appointment only at our Bradenton location.
You will need to visit your local tax collector/DMV office to get your actual restricted license. Fees will need to be paid and parents will need to bring documentation and proofs of address.
If you are over the age of 18, you must take the exam at your local tax collectors office (DMV) or at a third party testing location.
